Okay so let me get this straight:

This is buggy, but like extremely buggy.
At some point I got to the town and couldn't backtrack. There are no warp zone to go back to the previous screen and I got no idea why. I unironically thought I got softlocked and I wasn't planning to replay this thing all over again.
I bought a new hammer, but this only lasted the Wario bossfight and I don't think it even does double damage like advertised.
The final boss battle is literally impossible normally, you have to die during the second phase and then when Mario's back to full health it is finally possible to beat it. I even tried to use the boo thingy, the healing shroom and the thunder thingy, but they didn't work, none of them worked.
Also the boo thingy and the thunderbolt didn't work with Wario either. Why even have these items at all if they don't work you need 'em?
I can spam the jump button to become invincible, this is the only reason I got so far into the game. I only realised this was a thing in the Wario bossfight and then realised how broken this is whilst fighting the final boss.
Since this is episodic, all the progress I've made will prolly be lost, all the items I bought will be lost.

I'm not going to surgarcoat it just cuz it was made in Flash and just cuz RPGs are usually the hardest types of games to code, this is a 3 stars game at best.
I'm also going to be real with ya, this should have been a movie and I'd have been more generous. I know this was made with Flash, but this was still a bad experience and anyways I've played Flash games that weren't as buggy as this before like that Mario fighting game.

The only saving grace is there was an attempt, so it looks decent and it works like it should most of the time and I liked some of the music, the sewer music as Luigi was a fucking banger.

MetaMike responds:

I understand how not being able to backtrack in certain areas could be annoying, but this game would be an absolute nightmare in file size and coding if one could backtrack the entire game. Also there really isn’t a reason for backtracking here.

Thank you for saying something about the hammer not being available after the Wario fight, I just recently added the Wario fight and I left a piece of coding in there that resets the players items and health after that battle, I'm sorry for that. But I now fixed it and you saved other people from getting that nasty glitch also.

I did think I should probably drop the final boss fight hp btw so I definitely understand that.

I can probably fix some other things as well, I appreciate the constructive criticisms

USApyonAnimate, how dare you steal someone else's shitty template game and make it your own: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/92497432 without even crediting them? That's it! You are grounded grounded grounded grounded grounded grounded grounded grounded grounded grounded grounded grounded grounded grounded grounded for ∞ days, go to your room right this instant and don't come out until you understand what plagiarism means!

USApyonAnimate responds:

What Did I Do, I Didn’t Steal It, I Was Just Remixes On Create On Undertale Game Battle, Then It Will Shared The Project And I Forgot To Credit To Him.

The controls are somewhat weird, the gameplay is kinda over the top like freaks-heart said you die too easily. There's also only 1 music and no sound effects.

Maxfilm responds:

Actualy there are three music track avaiable. But you are right, there are no sound effects. That's because of limitations of the original gameboy sound chip. I has only four chanels and I already used these chanels by music.
Thanx for your coment :)

Good game, but why the tags "creepypasta" and "creepy-pasta" tho?

chazmuco responds:

The intention of the narrative with Meno is to generate the feeling of playing a possessed game, unfortunately, we had to lower the intensity of many effects or turn them off by default because they interrupted the gameplay, so the narrative ended up being in a very secondary role.

You need to either scale down on the difficulty or give the player more ways to knock out enemies.

In Mario Bros. enemies get knocked out by jumping against the platform they're standing on and then by running into them. Simple and easy. In this game, to kill the enemies you must first throw a box at them and then you must go to the box's designated door and boom they're dead assuming they didn't have time to recover. It's a problem. Oh BTW that's not all, there's yet another caveat to this mess, if you either miss your shots with the box or you hit the enemy, but it drops further down than it should because there was a hole or something, it damages it all the same as if the player was carrying it and took a hit from an enemy. Also if the timer runs out or the box breaks it costs you a life, so uh good luck guys.

I think the worst part of the game must be the snails, except when they're turned the opposite direction of the player it's fucking impossible to deal with them. They're functionally identical to the crabs, but the crabs atleast can't catch the player immediately after turning aggro cos they're always on a floor above the player.

Honestly I think the only saving grace to this confusion is that it's not an instadeath like in Mario Bros. All taking a hit does is like I said it damages the box and if the player isn't carrying any, it lowers the timer, but still it's brutal hard esp when the enemies start swarming the screen because you can't kill them quickly enough.

I still somehow survived 8 trips, so either I must be real damn good at Mario Bros. altho I never played it before or my quick learning came in handy for this game.

It's still a good game, it's just so cringe that it's so frustrating.

CruiseElroy responds:

I agree that the challenge from this can get pretty hard pretty fast. Getting the difficulty right for this was already tough considering the time limit I had to make this in, and if I were to ever make a post-jam version, I'd definitely like to have the difficulty be something that the player eases into more before it ramps up as quickly as it does.

Glad you found it enjoyable otherwise!

It's gotten blammed once so it's prolly going to get blammed again bro.

Anyways it's awful, here's why:
-Ugly graphics and animations, I hate this epileptic background.
-The most barebone and boring gameplay loop ever, it's a very basic platformer with bad collision detection and floaty jumps that adds 1 random small thing per level.
-Terminally unfunny, didn't laugh.
-Broken English. It looks like it was written by a 6 to 7 years old kid.
-Buggy

SuperOriginal64 responds:

asshole, go judge other new games or get ran over by a car.

It takes forever to load, can't play the game sadly.

honestSpoof responds:

i ended up testing it in firefox so maybe that could be it?
if it still isnt loading i could put a windows build up on itch.io, which is a thing ill probably do soon

edit: i have decided to publish it with google drive, because i didn't want to make an upload page. anyway you can download it in the description now.

It takes forever to load, IDK if I can even play the game.

hamdy34 responds:

I apologise for any problems you may have. The game is around 8mbs total. You may check your internet connection and try later if that's the problem. Are you trying to play the game on mobile? If so, sadly it can only be played with keyboard or a gamepad/controller.

Brutally honest, if any of my reviews upset you, consider this https://youtu.be/YQbMtvQowX0
If you got mad by a review made for some1 else then that's for you https://youtu.be/zEAStIBmNUs
Besides that, shoutout to Top Hat Gaming Man and The Spiffing Brit.
