Very meh, but still works, so I'll give the bare minimum of stars for this game.

It isn't bad by any means, but it's very simple, generic and boring and it doesn't help that there's no music and the game looks to have been made back in 1999 along that pinball game for Windows 95.

Maybe if it was a retro horror game it would work, but it isn't so.

I kinda expected an Isaac clone, but instead got a sidescroller. I think it's pretty good, I especially like the lighting.

It doesn't really work, but it looks authentic I guess.

Simple but decent platformer.

I don't think there's anything else I can say about it.

It's kinda mid even for a game jam game, I think you should've used an easier engine than Unity to get your job done quicker.

But anyways the game's working, so I'll atleast give you 3 stars.

SpookDev responds:

Thank you for the review! I had more ideas with the game, but I unfortunately didn't have much time to actually commit to them, that might be the reason why there is little to no gameplay involved in the final version, since I intended those levels to be mainly a tutorial introducing the mechanics of the game.

It's an okay Metroidvania. There's really not much special to it like others have pointed out, but it's still decent.

Very generic + the game's a little too easy = Bored

I also had an issue where the text didn't display right which's likely my browser's fault because it handles HTML5 differently and whatnot, also had this issue with my games made on GDevelop. I swear Flash should've stayed the default, it worked the same no matter which browser is used.

From the thumbnail alone I knew this wasn't going to be great.

I think the worst part of this game is just how generic and uninspired this is.

The writing is also pretty bad too, everything seems to have gone thru Google translate.

The only real positive is the music, that's definitely the highlight of this game.

splashykarp responds:

Sorry you didn’t enjoy it. Thanks and we appreciate your criticisms and concerns as well as extend our thanks for trying out the game. We’ll be sure to improve on the criticisms and win you over on our next project. 👍

I mean sorry for he harsh criticism, but what is really there to enjoy? The game also runs off Scratch and the only way to have "online variables" or whatever the site calls them is to be logged in, so I'm basically fighting against bots who move around randomly. It's boring, simple as that and I've played a bunch of .io inspired games.

I guess you tried.

Maybe you should start to use literally anything else to code your games in. GDevelop has online capabilities and a leaderboard, it'd work with what you're trying to do.

GameplayStudios responds:

Sorry about your Experience, but I have tried GDevelop before but I literally have no idea how to use it that well. Also, Currently my Computer is literally so awfully buggy and laggy. So I have to use my other computer which is a chromebook. All I'm doing is just trying to make it a simple game not meant to take lots of hours to play. Also, I am currently trying to learn other code like Java or Python. I don't really know how to do things that well. Although, thank you for your Feedback. Please send Any suggestions that you want inside of the Games Subreddit, r/dog_io.
